Samsung TV+ launch in the UAE: the sign of a CTV outbreak in MENA?

This summer Samsung announced the launch of its free ad-supported TV FAST service Samsung TV+ in the UAE. With this service, a new option is proposed to households of the Gulf region to access video entertainment for free. While the availability of free video services has been on the rise, questions have persisted about their ability to generate advertising revenue and effectively monetize content that often comes with licensing costs. Samsung TV+ should increase the capabilities, enabling more precise customer targeting and potentially adding value to the digital video market.

In February 2024, Yango announced the launch of Yango Play, an extensive entertainment super app now available in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait and Egypt.
